![]() "As above, so below" Astrology is the study of how celestial events affect things here on earth. A "celestial event" is any event that takes place in the heavens. For example, the movement of the Moon through the night sky, or any two planets appearing in the same area is a celestial event. The way the Sun rises in the north during the summer months and the south during the winter is also an example of a celestial event. Astrology uses mathematical angles between the planets to indicate how the planets are interacting with each other, and in turn how those aspects influence events on earth. The constellations of the Zodiac are an ancient way of dividing the heavens. Ancient peoples noticed that those born when the Sun was traveling through different constellations exhibited different characteristics. Houses are another division, but are based upon the physical location of ones birth. The time of birth is a crucial factor in determining the division of the houses. It integrates all the celestial events with the physical characteristics of living on earth. Contrary to popular
belief, it's the planets that are the most important factors of the
horoscope. The planet describes the motivating power or
force. They represent our drives or ambitions. The signs
describe how the force is applied; the ways in which the planets
operate. The houses indicate the areas of life where the action is
occurring.
The purpose of
Astrology is not to blame the planets for what happens to us, but to
learn about ourselves by planetary indications in our birth (natal)
chart. When we see ourselves clearly we can discover within
ourselves new qualities, and thus our lives can become more fulfilled,
purposeful and productive.
