CANCER: The Crab

Cancer marks the beginning of summer and begins on the longest day of the year. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer's natural home is the fourth house. This signs emotions ebb and flow like the tides. Emotional sensitivity is very strong in this sign, but there is also a strong tendency to build a protective shell to hide that sensitivity.

Cancer is nurturing and thoughtful in it's dealings with others, but can have the propensity to be smothering in their love. If watched carefully this tendency can be overcome.

They can become denfensive and uncooperative when told how to do things or ordered around. If directed with kindness they generally work willingly, but when forced they can become unbending. They have a need to learn things on their own, seeming to disregard the examples of others.

Home and family is very important to them and a feeling of tradition or roots is important to the Cancer identity. They can be avid history buffs and have very powerful imaginations.

Emotionally Cancer needs someone or something to nurture. The mothering instinct is very strong in this sign and they are happiest when they have something to take care of. If they are not allowed to express their nurturing instincts they can become smothering.
