The Sun

The Sun is the planet of integration. This is the planet that assimilates all the facets of the self into one complete personality. The Sun is your spark and creativity. It is one of the three most important factors in any chart, along with the Moon and Ascendant or Rising Sign.

The Sun is the power behind your personality, the king of who you are. The Sun's placement in a chart shows where you are the most comfortable, where you operate almost without thinking. Things really seem to flow for you in this area.

When the Sun is "afflicted" it can make it difficult for you to integrate all the different pieces of your personality. The Sun is the most comfortable in the Sign that it rules or in the Sign that it is exalted in. It is the least comfortable, and therefore can be more difficult to use, in the Signs of its detriment or fall. In the other signs the Sun operates in a fairly comfortable manner, depending on the various Aspects to it.

The Sun rules the 5th house and is represented by the Sign of Leo. It takes a full year to travel through all 12 signs of the zodiac, and is in each sign for 30 to 31 days.
